CAMIGUIN ISLAND, PHILIPPINES
Camiguin Island is known as the "Island Born of Fire" due to the seven volcanoes that surround the island. It is located in the Province of Northern Mindanao, Philippines.
It’s frightening to hear the word "volcanoes," but they're all dormant and it doesn’t compare to the stunning beaches, waterfalls, and other scenery that Camiguin Island has to offer both travelers and locals.
Read on to see how we went to Camiguin Island, what were the activities we did.

Day 1
Katunggan Park (4:00pm-4:30pm)
We arrived in the afternoon and, not wanting to waste time, headed directly to Katunggan Park.
You can easily commute to the park, but we walked from Benoni Port to Katunggan Park because we wanted to enjoy the scenery while also getting some exercise.
Katunggan Park has a boardwalk that is encircled by Mangroove trees. It is ideal for families who wish to spend the entire day or half the day relaxing because they provide cottages and some food. For further information, you may visit Katunggan Park- Facebook page.
Entrance Fee: ₱30.00 per head
Day 2
Sunken Cemetery (10:00am-10:20am)
Due to volcanic eruptions that occurred in the 1940s and 1950s, graveyards were submerged in the sea, giving rise to the name "Sunken Cemetery."
We were unable to snorkeling due to the strong waves. This is one of the reasons that I want to revisit the island.
Around the area, there are small businesses that sell delicacies and pasalubong.
Entrance fee: No fee if sightseeing only.
The Old Spanish Church Ruins (10:30am-11:30am)
This church, also known as Gui-ob Church, was also ruined due to the volcanic eruptions that happened in the 1870s.
Right when you enter the entrance, you will feel like you’re in ancient times, and when you check the walls up close, you’ll be mesmerized because they used rocks to build the walls.
Entrance Fee: ₱50.00 per head
Katibawasan Falls (11:00am-12:00nn)
Hidden inside the forest of Camiguin is the Katibawasan Falls, which is 250 feet below the ground.
It is without doubt one of the best waterfalls in the Philippines.
Entrance Fee: ₱75.00 (Regular) ₱60.00 (Student) per head.
We originally tried to go DIY on our second day because we wanted to learn how locals commute and save money as well, but due to unanticipated events, we eventually ended up renting a Motorella that brought us to the Sunken Cemetery, Old Church Ruins, and Katibawasan Falls for ₱1,300.00. We didn't go to any other attractions because we only wanted to spend our second day at these three locations.
Day 3
Mantigue Island (8:00am-11:00am)
Mantigue Island is also one of my favorite tourist spots in Camiguin because of its white sand, scenery, and fish sanctuary.
You can only stay for up to 4 hours; however, you can extend your stay for an additional hour for a price.
Take note that there are no vendors on the island selling food or water but you can brings snacks before going to the island.
Entrance Fee: ₱75.00 per head
Boat Fee: ₱600 for 4 pax
Conclusion
Camiguin Island is indeed one of the best places in the Philippines, from its beautiful beaches down to affordable food, accommodation, entrance fees to tourist spots, and of course, friendly locals.
You must visit Camiguin Island NOW!
